We Happy Few, Shadow of Mordor, and more coming to the Xbox Game Pass

I can’t keep up with this. Four more games are coming to the Xbox Game Pass, namely We Happy Few, Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, Saints Row: The Third, and The LEGO Movie Videogame.

First-person action adventure game We Happy Few is the highlight of the new additions. Debuting on January 17th, the game is set in an alternative history where Great Britain was defeated by Nazi Germany. Taking place during the 1960’s, players must navigate a dystopia where everybody is drugged out of their minds on hallucinogenics. Doesn’t sound too “alternative” to the real 1960’s really, does it? We Happy Few, which was developed by Compulsion Games (who Microsoft bought last year), originally released in August 2018.

Next up we have The LEGO Movie Videogame which will also join the Game Pass on January 17th. The LEGO Movie Videogame is a LEGO-themed action-adventure game that released alongside the film back in 2014 to good reviews. It was developed by TT Fusion who have developed all of the LEGO games – there’s a LOT of them.

Then, on January 24th, Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor and Saints Row: The Third will join Microsoft’s game streaming service. Developed by Monolith Productions, Shadow of Mordor is an open-world action-adventure game set in The Lord of the Rings universe. It released for Xbox One back in 2014 to rave reviews and got a sequel, Shadow of War, that released in October 2017. Saints Row: The Third, meanwhile, is the third entry in the Saints Row series that was originally labelled as a competitor to Grand Theft Auto but ended up taking a more absurd turn. Released way back in 2011 on the Xbox 360, it got great reviews, with particular praise being aimed at its general ridiculousness and all round fun.

These four great new additions will join Life Is Strange 2, Ark: Survival Evolved, Farming Simulator 17, Absolver, Just Cause 3, Aftercharge, and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, which have already joined the Xbox Game Pass this month. The latter of those games, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, wasn’t even announced to be joining the Game Pass, it was just added as a surprise. I love surprises!

For those of us who aren’t very good at math, that’s a total of 11 games that will have been added to the Xbox Game Pass in January. That’s a great effort from Microsoft who are continually bulking out the library of games that are available through the Game Pass. We named the Xbox Game Pass as our Service of the Year in our End of Year Awards 2018 and Microsoft are doing a great job of backing up our decision.

The Xbox Game Pass now has over 200 games available. You can get your first months subscription at a cost of just £1 and then £7.99 a month thereafter, and you can cancel at any time. The Xbox Game Pass becomes better value for money with every passing month.
