Blackout gets a limited time mode that adds respawns

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout has its first limited time mode, and it adds respawns to the battle royale bonanza.

To be more specific, in the limited time mode—which is named Down But Not Out—players will have a chance to respawn with each new Collapse, which means every time the storm moves to a new location. To qualify for a respawn you just need to make sure that at least one member of your squad is alive when the circle moves; the word squad is key here, as this mode is currently only available for squads of 4 players. If you do respawn, you won’t be completely empty handed – respawning players will be granted a basic loadout, including a pistol, some bandages, and a perk. Respawning players will have to redeploy from a helicopter.

As you can see, the limited time mode is currently only available on the PS4; you can probably expect it to appear on Xbox One and PC next week. The mode will be available until January 30th.

So, what should you expect from this limited time mode? Well, a much busier final circle I imagine, with more players making it to the final stages of the battle royale. That will also most likely lead to much more aggressive play, so things should get quite frantic.

This limited time mode also comes on the same day that the week-long free trial of Blackout begins. The new limited time mode should be a bit more forgiving, so it’s a good option for new players that are checking out the trial to get to grips with things before jumping into the more unforgiving “dead and you’re out” gameplay of Blackout.
