Valve to run a “preview tournament” for Artifact

As we quickly approach November 28th—the official launch date of Valve’s Dota 2 card game, Artifact—Valve has announced that it will be holding a preview tournament that will showcase the games in-built tournament system.

This tournament will take place next weekend (November 10th and 11th) and will see 128 players competing for a share of a $10,000 prize pool.

In a post on Steam, Valve said “Hosted by Beyond The Summit and broadcast on SteamTV, the all-draft event will feature a 7 round Swiss bracket on Saturday. A top 8 single elimination bracket will decide the winner on Sunday. Both days begin at 9AM PST.”, they continued “The tournament will be run entirely through an in-client tournament system which will be available for everyone to use on launch day, November 28th.”

This announcement follows the recent news that the Artifact beta has been pushed back until November 19th, which seems ludicrously close to the full release date of November 28th. Following this news, we did speculate as to whether the full release date would be pushed back as well, but it now appears that this will not be the case and we will be able to get our hands on Artifact at the end of the month.
