The Witness is the latest free game on the Epic Games Store

Fresh off of being available as a free download for PS Plus members during March, The Witness will be the latest free offering on the Epic Games Store, giving PC players a chance to grab the game for nothing too.

Released in 2016 to a very strong critical reception, The Witness is a first-person puzzler where players must be explore a gorgeous open-world island and solve puzzles along the way. Knowledgeable gamers will instantly spot similarities with 1993 puzzler Myst and that’s no surprise, as The Witness was inspired by the classic puzzle game, although it is noticeably a lot more colourful.

It’s another great free offering from the Epic Games Store, following earlier freebies that have included Thimbleweed Park, What Remains of Edith Finch, Slime Rancher, Oxenfree, and Axiom Verge. Epic are doing everything that they can to draw some business away from Steam, and these free offerings coupled with the fact that they’re splashing their cash to secure some exclusives are the perfect way to entice players to their storefront. Just yesterday it was confirmed that Borderlands 3 will launch exclusively on the Epic Games Store on PC, joining other big names like The Division 2 and Metro Exodus in being made exclusive to Epic’s platform.

The Witness is available to download for the grand total of bugger all from the Epic Games Store as of today.
