The upcoming remaster of Sniper Elite V2, which was first announced back in March, will launch on Tuesday 14th May, Rebellion has confirmed.
Sniper Elite V2, which first released on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 back in 2012, is a stealth-based third-person shooter that puts players in the shoes of Karl Fairburne, an elite sniper (funnily enough) who has parachuted into Berlin to try and prevent Nazi V2 rocket technology falling into the hands of the Red Army. Rebellion tells players that they’ll be able to “master authentic weaponry, stalk your target, fortify your position, set up the shot, and use your skill, patience and cunning to achieve the mission.”
The upcoming remaster will bring modernised renderer and post processing effects to the game as well as enhanced level geometry, textures and particles, a revamped lighting system, and 4K HDR support. There’s also a new photo mode and 8 new playable characters from Rebellion’s Zombie Army series, and there’s an enhanced multiplayer mode that supports up to 16 players (8 on the Switch – booo) across 7 “uniquely tense” modes, including Deathmatch, Distance King, Dogtag Harvest, and Capture the Flag.
To make things even better, all DLC will be included in the remaster. Specifically, that means three new campaign levels and a number of iconic weapons such as the Lee Enfield MK III and the M1 Carbine.
Sniper Elite V2 Remastered will set you back £29.99, but anybody who already owns the original Sniper Elite V2 on Steam can upgrade their game to the remastered version for just £6.99, which is a nice touch. Sniper Elite V2 Remastered launches for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on Tuesday 14th May.
