Four new Sniper Elite games are in development

The Sniper Elite series is about to get a whole lot bigger with the addition of 4 new games. Well, actually it’s two new games,, one port, and one remaster, but still, that’s 4 games in total, right?

Anyway, Rebellion announced the news of four (two) new games on their Twitter page earlier today, where they confirmed that Sniper Elite 4 is in development, Sniper Elite V2 is being remastered, Sniper Elite 3 is being ported to the Switch, and to top it off they said Sniper Elite is heading to VR:

The first game to be released will be the remaster of 2012’s Sniper Elite V2, which is set to launch sometime in 2019 on all platforms, including the Nintendo Switch. The remaster will feature the usual 4K graphics and HDR for supporting consoles and monitors. There will also be all new characters to play, as well as a Photo Mode and online multiplayer for up to 16 players. You can watch the trailer for this below:

The Sniper Elite 3 port for the Nintendo Switch will also be released some time in 2019 and will feature all of the content ever released for the game, including all paid-for DLC, and local wireless multiplayer and motion controls will also be added.

Further in the future we have the standalone VR game which is expected to be revealed later in the year. We haven’t seen a trailer or any gameplay for it yet, but if you own a VR device this will be a game to watch.

And finally we have Sniper Elite 4, the next major installment in the series. There’s no release date for it yet, but Rebellion has said to expect a reveal in 2020. Keep in mind that’s a reveal date and not a release date, so we might not see the game until 2021, which could well make it a next-gen title – possibly a launch title for the new consoles?

That’s a lot of sniper-y action to look forward to. I’m personally most excited about the Switch port because I’m yet to play Sniper Elite 3 and it will make a great portable title.
