Red Dead Redemption 2 returns to the top of the UK Charts

Red Dead Redemption 2 has returned to the top of the UK sales charts almost 4 months after its release.

That’s according to our good old buddies at Chart-Track, but as always remember that this is only counting physical sales, as the CT Crew (is it okay if I call them that?) don’t count digital sales.

Of course, Red Dead Redemption 2 has been aided in its quest to reclaim the top spot by a severe lack of any standout new releases, but it’s still an impressive feat for a game that’s a good few months into its life. It’s not all that surprising that Red Dead Redemption 2 is still achieving strong sales though following the critical acclaim that the game received upon launch. In his glowing review of the game, our very own Glen said:

“Fantastic, outstanding and superb. I’ve used many adjectives to describe my time spent in Red Dead Redemption 2, yet none of them really do the game justice. It’s only when you take a moment to digest what you’ve experienced after a lengthy play session that you can truly fathom the scale, uniqueness and down right brilliance of what Rockstar has created. I started this review by calling RDR2 “a game worthy of being listed among the greatest computer games ever developed” and I’m going to end it the same way. Here, we have a game that will be spoken about and praised for many years to come. A game to define a generation, a story so well told that it could fit the big screen. No, it’s not perfect, no game I’ve played is, but what we have here is a game that is as close to perfection as can be. For a game this vast, with so much to explore and discover, that in itself is truly remarkable.”

I think he enjoyed it. If you are new to Red Dead Redemption 2 this week then we’ve got you covered, as our ever-helpful Ricky wrote several guides for the game that will help you in your journey, including tips for new players, the best settings for combat, how to get the best horses, and the quickest way to gain Honor and how to keep it.

In reclaiming the top spot, Red Dead Redemption 2 has relegated last weeks champion, Kingdom Hearts 3, to third spot in the charts, with FIFA 19 pipping the Final Fantasy/Disney lovechild to second place on the podium. The Resident Evil 2 remake has dropped from that second spot into 4th, while Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 manages to hold its position in 5th. The next two places, which are occupied by New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, are also non-movers from last week, but Spyro Reignited Trilogy has managed to push up from 10th into 8th. That progress from Spyro relegates Super Smash Bros. Ultimate from 8th to 9th, and the ever-selling Grand Theft Auto V drops from 9th to 10th.

The full top 10 are as follows:

  1. Red Dead Redemption 2
  2. FIFA 19
  3. Kingdom Hearts 3
  4. Resident Evil 2
  5. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
  6. New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe
  7. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  8. Spyro Reignited Trilogy
  9. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
  10. Grand Theft Auto V
