Season 3 of H1Z1 will bring a new Deathmatch mode

Season 3 of H1Z1: Battle Royale on PlayStation 4 will begin on Thursday 21st February, and it will bring with it a host of new features including a brand new non-battle royale deathmatch mode.

The mode, which will be titled FFA Deathmatch, will see 50 players drop into a “tight combat zone” with a full arsenal of equipment. Players will do battle in a “first to 25” deathmatch with instant respawns, and matches will be time limited to 15 minutes to make sure the action is thick and fast. Daybreak said that teams and 100+ player matches are in the works, so expect them at some point in the future. FFA Deathmatch will be an unranked mode to begin with, but it will eventually be added to the new seasonal leaderboards that will also be introduced with Season 3.

When introduced on Thursday 21st February, these new seasonal leaderboards will track your performance across all battle royale game modes (solo, duos, and fives), ranking players across 6 tiers from Bronze all the way up to Master. These leaderboards will track your matches played, total kills, and more for the entire of Season 3, but all rankings will reset at the end of each season.

The beginning of Season 3 will also see the addition of a new Battle Pass, the biggest one that the game has seen to date. The Season 3 Battle Pass will feature 100 tiers of new rewards such as cosmetic items. As always, there will still be both a free and a PlayStation Plus line of Battle Pass for players to progress through during the season as well as the Premium Battle Pass, which will cost in-game crowns to access.

Finally, Training Grounds will also be introduced at the start of Season 3, allowing players to hone their skills with each weapon before venturing into the competitive modes, which is a perfect feature to introduce alongside new ranked leaderboards. If that’s not enough for you, Season 3 will also add new lobbies, a revamped front-end UI, daily attendance rewards, and a new challenge reward known as Master’s Coins, which can be used to purchase Master’s Crates, giving players special rewards including the new Hazmat Outfit and Provoke emote.

You can check out more information about the Season 3 update here. The update will arrive at the same time as the start of Season 3 on Thursday 21st February.
