Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s latest patch is now live, adding a new Operator, new maps, new game modes, and more.
The new maps include Vacant and Shipment, two classic maps from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare which were already announced as coming to the game as part of the games first season of content. Vacant is available in 6v6 modes while Shipment is available in both 6v6 and 2v2; alternatively, both of these maps have been added into a Vacant and Shipment 24/7 Playlist. There’s also a new map called Winter Docks, which is merely a Winter themed version of the ‘Docks’ 2v2 map.
The new Operator, meanwhile, is a Russian called Nikto, a “former Russian FSB deep cover agent that has been reassigned to Spetsnaz in the Allegiance forces.” There’s also a new mode called Cranked, which Infinity Ward describes as “a fast-paced, high octane Deathmatch where players race against the clock to get kills or suffer an explosive fate.” – fans of Call of Duty: Ghosts and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will be familiar.
On the Spec-Ops side of things there are three new treats for you to sink your teeth into; there’s a new Special Operation called ‘Strongbox’ and two new Classic Special Operation Missions called ‘Disinform’ and ‘Bomb Squad’ respectively. The patch also includes a whole host of quality-of-life changes and bug fixes, including more changes to footstep sounds and a fix for a bug where the green ‘new’ notification icon was not clearing off the screen even though there wasn’t any new items to view, which has been doing my head in for weeks now so I’m delighted to see it fixed. You can read a full list of the changes here.
The patch is now live on all platforms.
