Microsoft has announced another three titles that will be added to the Xbox Game Pass for Console in the coming days, with Frostpunk: Console Edition being the standout addition.
Originally released for PC via Steam back in April 2018, Frostpunk is a “society survival game where heat means life and every decision comes at a price”. Players take on the role of the leader of the last society on earth, tasked with “building a city for your survivors to live in, discover new technologies, explore frozen wastelands, and most importantly, manage and rule society to prepare it for life in an unforgiving world”. Frostpunk was very well received and currently holds a “Very Positive” rating on Steam, eventually making its way to consoles back in October of last year. Now, just a couple of months after its console launch, Frostpunk: Console Edition will be playable through Microsoft’s subscription service from Thursday 9th January onwards.
Also on Thursday, third-person shooter Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet will also join the Game Pass. Based on the Sword Art Online anime series, the game puts you in the shoes of “the protagonist in the virtual reality world of Gun Gale Online”. Players are able to “develop your avatar as you see fit, master a wide array of weapons and skills, and learn to survive in your own personal warzone”. Developed by Dimps and released for PS4 and Xbox One back in February 2018, Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet picked up relatively mixed reviews, but if you already have a Game Pass subscription then it’s probably worth checking out if you’re interested.
Finally, Thursday 16th January will see popular fighting game Tekken 7 joining the Game Pass. The seventh main entry in Bandai Namco’s famous series features “photo-realistic graphics” as well as “new and innovative features and fighting mechanics” to “provide the ultimate fighting game experience”. The game picked up great reviews when it was released back in 2017 and is a must-play for fans of the series or the genre in general.
The announcement of more new additions to the Game Pass comes just a couple of days after Rockstar Games’ behemoth Grand Theft Auto V joined the service, showing that Microsoft plans to start 2020 with heavy support for the Game Pass. Don’t forget that new subscribers can still sign up for just £1.
