The Witcher 3 will launch for the Switch in October

The Witcher 3 will launch for the Nintendo Switch on Tuesday 15th October.

That date was revealed as part of a new trailer for the game that was shown today at Gamescom, which you can view below:

The Switch version of the game will be the Complete Edition, which bundles the base game together will all of its post-release DLC. It was first announced for the Switch during Nintendo’s E3 presentation back in June, and I and many others were understandably very skeptical about how well the game would run.

The Witcher 3 is an absolutely massive game, and it’s still miraculous to me that it’ll be able to run on Nintendo’s lesser-powered machine, but there will be compromises – the game will run at 720p when the Switch is docked, but playing it in handheld mode will see the resolution lowered to 540p, but obviously that won’t be as noticeable on the smaller screen. It certainly looks like it runs very smoothly, you can check out some extended Switch gameplay in the video below if you’ve got a spare 40 minutes.
