Spider-Man has just overthrown God of War to become the fastest selling first-party Playstation game. Ever.
It’s not exactly surprising considering how the Spider-Man photo mode has been infesting almost every social media site recently, with wacky and cool pictures of Spidey popping up everywhere since release. It’s been a very rare sight for you to log on to any social network recently and not see Spider-Man images, which, if you don’t own a PS4 is just depressing.
The game sold an incredible 3.3 million copies in its first three day, which according to Sony’s Stephen Turvey has “met and exceeded all expectations”. You don’t say. The previous game to hold the title (as mentioned above) was God of War which sold an impressive 3.1 million copies in its first three days.
This is a record that’s well deserved, the game is great; Insomniac really did put their all into the game and it really showed, scoring high marks across the board (check out our Spider-Man PS4 review).
Is Spider-Man a better game than God of War? Honestly, we would say that it isn’t. It’s not that Spider-Man isn’t great, it’s just that God of War was incredible; Spider-Man just appealed to a much larger audience.

It will be interesting to see where Insomniac take Spider-Man next, will they try to innovate more in the sequel or will they play it safe like they did this time to a degree and give us what we already know and love? Anyway, that game is many years away yet so let’s just wait and see what they muster up for the DLC in the coming months.
