Red Dead Redemption 2’s online mode has been in beta for a while now, and it continues to be improved in preparation for its full release. The most recent update has added lobby improvements and rewards for players as a token of gratitude.
The improvements are for Red Dead Online’s new battle royale mode, titled Gold Rush. Gold Rush follows the successful formula of battle royale games, pitting multiple players against each other in a battle to the death. Rockstar has stated that Gold Rush has been suffering from matchmaking issues, so they have addressed these issues with a quick short-term improvement until a permanent fix can be implemented. This short-term fix should help create a full lobby, and Rockstar hopes that this update will encourage players to return to the game mode.
“Gun Rush is best experienced with as many competitors as possible, so if you had any issues with smaller lobbies around release, we strongly encourage you to give it another go this weekend as we are already regularly seeing much fuller matches on both PS4 and Xbox One,”
Other improvements to Red Dead Online are also in the works. These include daily challenges, improvements to the parley system, proximity-based player blips (which should make long-ranged targeting more difficult), and law and bounty changes to discourage pvp griefing.
Rockstar has said that these changes will come to the game in a title update scheduled for release in the coming months.
For players who play the game between 25th January and Sunday 27th, a token of gratitude will be waiting for you in the form of 5 free Gold Bars. The bonus will be delivered to your account by Tuesday 29th January.
