Overwatch is getting a free week on all platforms

Have you been watching Overwatch from afar and never been sure whether to take the plunge and buy the full game? Maybe you’ve been living under a rock and didn’t even know that Overwatch existed until you saw this article? Either way, you’ll be able to experience Blizzard’s fantastic team-based shooter without spending a penny next week.

Yes, that’s right, Overwatch is getting a week-long free trial on all platforms from Tuesday 20th November to Monday 26th November. The free trial will allow you to play the full game with no restrictions, meaning you can play as any of the 29 heroes in the game—including new hero Ashe—across 19 maps in Quick Play, Custom Games, Competitive Mode or the Arcade. You’ll also be able to level up and earn loot boxes, which reward you with numerous cosmetics and voice lines for the numerous heroes in the game. To make things even better, any progress that you make during your trial will carry over to the full game should you decide to make the full purchase to continue playing afterwards.

Blizzard has posted a lengthy article in regards to the free trial week, which gives a full deployment schedule as well as downloading/installation instructions and a free trial FAQ. You can check it out here.

This free trial comes just days after Blizzard released a massive update for Overwatch which introduced Ashe to the full game, made numerous balance changes, made a number of background changes to improve performance, and, more noticeably, forced everybody to reinstall the game. Overwatch is two and a half years old now but still has a strong and loyal player base, and it is supported by the fantastic Overwatch League. Just a few days ago, the game won the Esports Live Event of the Year for the OWL Grand Finals and Esports Game of the Year. Blizzard Entertainment also won Esports Publisher of the Year for Overwatch.

I’ve spent more hours than I would like to admit playing Overwatch over the last couple of years. Maybe it’s time for you to start your obsession?
