No Nintendo Switch Online subscription needed to play Fortnite

Fortnite fans rejoice, Nintendo has officially confirmed that you will NOT need a paid Switch Online subscription to play your beloved game, so you can save that £17.99 for something much more important, like V-Bucks for example.

You WILL, however, need a subscription to play most other titles – including Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros, so it’s a bit of a strange one that you won’t need one for Fortnite. Maybe Nintendo have struck a deal with Epic, or maybe it’s because it’s an online only game – who knows, and it doesn’t really matter, does it?

You also don’t need a PSN subscription to play Fortnite on the Playstation, and of course you don’t need a paid subscription to play on the PC or on mobile, that just leaves one platform that you do in fact need a paid subscription to play – yes, we’re looking at you Microsoft/Xbox.

Even though you don’t need a Switch subscription, you might want to consider getting one anyway because it does come with some cool features, including cloud saves for games that support it – check out the trailer for the service below:

Ricky spent most of his childhood playing games, mainly FPS and RPG games and this has continued into his adult life. You’ll regularly see him on Overwatch until he rages, then he'll move on to FIFA until he rages again - then he gives up on multiplayer games and chills out with a single player adventure.
