No Man’s Sky’s Beyond launches on August 14th

No Man’s Sky’s upcoming Beyond update will finally launch on Wednesday 14th August, Hello Games has announced. Alongside the announcement, Hello Games also released a short teaser trailer for the update which gives away absolutely nothing. Enjoy!

No Man’s Sky’s Beyond update was announced back in March, with Hello Games describing it as their most “ambitious chapter so far”. Specifically, the Beyond update will be three updates rolled into one, which Hello believes will make the update feel “much more impactful”.

The first component of the Beyond update will be the addition of full VR support for both PC and PS4 players, which was initially announced during the inaugural PlayStation live stream State of Play. No Man’s Sky seems like a game that would lend itself perfectly to VR, and the feature has been getting a very good reception from those who have been privileged enough to try it ahead of the release of the update.

The second component of the update is perhaps the most exciting, as Beyond will build on the NEXT update by adding No Man’s Sky Online to the game. Hello Games has been pretty quiet on giving out any details for what to expect from No Man’s Sky Online, but they did say this when it was first announced back in March:

“No Man’s Sky Online includes a radical new social and multiplayer experience which empowers players everywhere in the universe to meet and play together. Whilst this brings people together like never before, and has many recognisable online elements, we don’t consider No Man’s Sky to be an MMO – it won’t require a subscription, won’t contain microtransactions, and will be free for all existing players.

These changes are an answer to how we have seen people playing since the release of NEXT, and is something we’ve dreamed of for a long time.”

The remainder of the update is a complete mystery to all of us, as Hello Games has divulged absolutely no information on what exactly the third component of the update will consist of. I’m sure that we’ll hear some more information ahead of the updates release, and as always we’ll keep you updated as and when that information becomes available.
