The popular turn-based strategy game, Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden, is making its way to the Nintendo Switch this June along with a new content update. The game was originally released for other platforms (PS4, Xbox, and PC) in December of last year, and was met with praise from critics and fans alike. It’s taken inspiration from X-Com and is based on a Swedish board game called, well…erm…Mutant Year Zero…
The game sees you take control of mutant animals that can talk thanks to a nuclear war which wiped out almost all humans on Earth. You’re on a quest to open Eden’s gates to see what secrets—if any—the ancients left behind. The game has a bunch of RPG elements to it such as skill trees and equipment management, and it also has a great story, brilliant voice acting and beautiful graphics. The characters are arguably the highlight of the game; the funny one-liners and general chit chat between the mutants keeps you wanting more, but not only that – you actually start to care about them. If you’re a fan of X-Com then you’ll love it. Check out the full trailer below:
The Switch is quickly becoming the go-to console for all the best indie games, which isn’t surprising because the console lends itself to them perfectly, as indie games generally don’t require high specs to run and they’re usually perfect for playing on the go. I just hope this trend continues!
