Monster Hunter World is getting a Resident Evil crossover event

The stars of Resident Evil 2 are coming to Monster Hunter World: Iceborne as part of an upcoming special event.

The event was announced via a teaser trailer that was published earlier today, showing Resi 2’s protagonists Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield being confronted by all sorts of nasties. The trailer quickly descends into madness, with dancing zombies, an appearance from the usually sinister Mr. X who looks like he’s going to be the Handler, and a brief cameo from Resident Evil 2’s secret character, the ever-bizarre Tofu, who it appears will be available as a weapon pendant during the event. Check it out below:

Capcom hasn’t yet provided any official details about what exactly the crossover event will entail, but it would be logical to presume that there will be all sorts of Resident Evil-themed cosmetic items such as weapons and skins, similar to previous events. Monster Hunter World: Iceborne has previously held crossover events with the likes of Final Fantasy 15, Devil May Cry, The Witcher 3, Horizon Zero Dawn, and more, all of which tend to follow the same pattern, so it’s likely that this one will too.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne’s crossover event with Resident Evil will begin at some point in November on PS4 and Xbox One. As always, we’ll keep you updated as and when any more details become available.
