Marvel’s Spider-Man gets a Game of the Year Edition, available now

Marvel’s Spider-Man has been given a Game of the Year Edition just ahead of the games first anniversary, and it’s available right now on PS4.

The Game of the Year Edition bundles together both the base game of Marvel’s Spider-Man and all three chapters of the games post-launch DLC named The City That Never Sleeps. It’ll set you back $39.99 USD or the inexplicably-more-expensive £44.99 if you’re in the UK and it’s available digitally right now through the PlayStation Store. To put things into perspective, buying both the base game and the DLC separately will set you back $64.98 USD or £50.98 if you’re in the UK, which flips the expensiveness for some reason. If you already own the base game then you can pick up the DLC on its own for $24.99 USD or £15.99. Basically, if we ignore the nonsensical and inexplicably inconsistent expensiveness, there’s a saving to be made from buying the Game of the Year Edition if you haven’t played the game before.

Marvel’s Spider-Man received pretty glowing reviews when it was released last year and did tremendous work for Sony as one of the PS4’s standout exclusives. In our 8/10 review of the game, Glen praised the fantastic web-slinging and storytelling of the game but gave criticism over the games over-reliance on borrowing mechanics already found in similar titles such as the Arkham series.

The release of the Game of the Year Edition of Marvel’s Spider-Man comes just over a week after Sony purchased the game’s developer, Insomniac Games. The decision to purchase Insomniac was no doubt spurred on by the runaway success of Marvel’s Spider-Man as Sony looks to secure more top notch exclusives for its next generation of consoles.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Game of the Year Edition is available to purchase digitally right now through the PlayStation Store.
