Mafia III is free on PlayStation Plus this month

Xbox have given us a great lineup of of freebies for Games with Gold this month, and seemingly not wanting to be bettered, PlayStation have come back strong themselves.

It’s time to channel your inner Tony Soprano, as open world action adventure game Mafia III is now available as August’s first free game for PlayStation Plus members. Mafia III was much hyped during its development but released to mixed-to-positive reviews, with many reviewers praising the setting, story and characters but criticising the numerous technical issues that the game suffers from. With that being said, it is still well worth playing, especially when you can get it for bloody nothing. What are you complaining about? Dead by Daylight—a 1vs4 multiplayer game—will be the second PS4 title on offer as a freebie this month.

Over on PS3, players can get hold of Bound by Flame (I wouldn’t bother though) and Serious Sam 3 BFE (which is a must-have for fans of old school, chaotic shooters).

If you’re a PS Vita player, you’ve got Draw Slasher and Space Hulk to get your hands on for absolutely diddly-squat.

As always, there are some duds in these lists, but there are also some absolute gems; particularly in the cases of Mafia III and Serious Sam 3. If you’re at a loose end and want a new game to play then these games are well worth taking a look at, particularly if you can keep your wallet in your pocket whilst doing so.
