Microsoft has announced the latest batch of freebies that will be available to Xbox Live Gold subscribers during September.
The standout offering this month is IO Interactive’s Hitman: The Complete First Season, which was released as a reboot of the Hitman series in episodic format back in 2016. In Hitman, Agent 47 is tasked with taking down multiple targets across various locations, including the likes of Paris, Sapienza, Marrakesh, Bangkok, Colorado, and Hokkaido. The game picked up pretty favorable reviews and led to the release of a sequel, Hitman 2, which was released last year. Hitman: The Complete First Season will be available to download from Sunday 1st September until Monday 30th September.
From Monday 16th September until Tuesday 15th October, you’ll be able to grab indie puzzler We Were Here, which first released on Steam back in 2017. In We Were Here, you team up with another player to try and escape from a castle, with the catch being that you’re both stuck in different parts of the castle and have only your voice to help each other. If you prefer to play this kind of thing on PC then We Were Here is actually free to play over on Steam too.
Over on the Xbox 360 side of things, Earth Defense Force 2025—the fourth main entry in the series—will be available from Sunday 1st September until Sunday 15th September. The previous entry in the series, Earth Defense Force 2017, was offered out for free back in June. The other free offering for 360 players is Tekken Tag Tournament 2, which will be available from Monday 16th September until Monday 30th September. The classic fighting game picked up great reviews when it was released a whopping seven years ago. Both of these 360 titles will be available to play on the Xbox One via backwards compatibility.
