Guacamelee! 2 heading to Switch in December, Xbox One release to follow next year

Guacamelee! 2, the metroidvania action platforming game developed and published by DrinkBox Studios, will be launching on the Nintendo Switch on December 10th, with an Xbox One release planned for some time in January.

Initially released for the PlayStation 4 and PC in August, Guacamelee! 2 is the follow-up to DrinkBox Studios hugely successful original. The original Guacamelee! went from strength to strength after its PS3 and Vita release, with it’s enhanced version making its way on to all current gen consoles, receiving widespread praise in the process.

The follow-up is proving to be just as popular, again receiving praise and positive reviews from critics. For those that don’t know, the Guacamelee! series is a beautifully crafted 2D platformer/brawler and features an open, non-linear world to complete the game’s central story objectives in. Players control luchador protagonist Juan and explore while collecting necessary character upgrades and battling enemies.

Whilst the original featured co-op play, Guacamelee! 2 allows play for up to 4 players, which is sure to please Switch owners. Switch owners of the previously released Guacamelee: Super Turbo Championship Edition can receive an awesome 30% discount on the sequel, or a 10% saving by simply pre-ordering the game now.

The previously announced DLC is now available for the game on PlayStation 4 and Steam. The first pack, titled Three Enemigos, features three new playable characters, including El Muneco, Uay Pek and Jaguar Javier. They add new unique attributes that make them just as much fun to play as the not-so-traditional Luchadors! Another DLC pack called Proving Grounds will be releasing sometime in December.

What’s great for Switch and Xbox One owners is that these DLC packs will be made available for their launch games, giving players a full experience of the game from the get-go.
