Fortnite’s Season X is drawing to a close and players have been speculating that the battle royale phenomenon may be about to get a new map. That speculation is likely to get even more fierce today, following a leak that may have all but confirmed the news.
According to a leaked piece of artwork that has been pulled from the Italian version of the App Store, the game may be about to be re-branded as Fortnite: Chapter 2 as opposed to Season 11, and the image displayed points firmly in the direction of a new map. Check it out below:
Although it has been hard to judge this image, the Fortnite Chapter 2 image is REAL, however the video attached is an older video.
From the looks of it we have the following:
– New Defaults
– Potentially Boats
– New Map
– Lighthouse in the distance
– New Tilted
– Clouds 😛 pic.twitter.com/voT3F56quB— FireMonkey • Fortnite Intel ? (@iFireMonkey) October 11, 2019
As you can see, the image shows three figures stood on a grassy hill overlooking a large area. While the general colour palette may be recognizable to any Fortnite players, the actual area itself doesn’t look that familiar. There’s an area to the right that looks a bit like Tilted Towers, but there’s also what could possibly be a lighthouse in the far distance and a large river that is being occupied by boats, which could well be a new vehicle for the new season.
This could point to one of two things: either the game is getting an entirely new map, or the current map is being given a significant overhaul, combining completely new areas with classic fan favourites. Personally, I would like to see the game completely freshened up with a new map after ten long seasons on the current map. Evolve or die and all that.
You’ll also notice that the image says “Fortnite: Capitolo 2”, which is Italian for Fortnite: Chapter 2. This points to a new beginning for the game, and the idea of a new map would tie in to that, but we’ll have to wait for any official confirmation to find out for sure. Epic has kept tight-lipped on the whole matter so far as they force players to wait and see what happens during Fortnite’s live event, titled “The End” (hint hint), this Sunday at 2pm ET/11am PT/7pm BST.
