Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training is coming to the UK next year

Nintendo of Japan announced Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training for Nintendo Switch last month, but there was no word on a UK release until today. According to a new trailer relating to the European version of the game, Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training will launch on these shores on Friday 3rd January 2020, a month after it hits the shelves in Japan. Check out the trailer below:

As you can see, Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training for Nintendo Switch will include a number of brain-training exercises such as quick mental arithmetic (yes, you did just see a grown woman get 4 + 8 wrong), Sudoku, quick counting games, and tie-breaker classic Rock, Paper, Scissors, which is surely based more on luck than judgement. The physical versions of the game will also come bundled with the new Nintendo Switch Stylus, which should make it much more user-friendly to complete certain puzzles, and the game will also make use of the Joy-Con’s IR camera. The game will feature both local and online multiplayer.

The Brain Training series first appeared in 2006 when the first entry was released on the Nintendo DS. It picked up great reviews and went on to become one of the best-selling games on the console, and its sequel did the same when it released just a year later. Another sequel, Dr. Kawashima’s Devilish Brain Training: Can You Stay Focused?, released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2017, five years after its initial Japanese release.

Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training for Nintendo Switch will launch in Japan on Friday 27th December 2019 and the UK on Friday 3rd January 2020.
