Epic Games are teasing an Avengers: Endgame crossover event

Epic Games is teasing a new event for Fortnite, revolving around the release of Avengers: Endgame.

It seems like Epic are planning a crossover event between the two, with a couple of cryptic tweets sending players into a frenzy of excitement. The first of those tweets came last night, simply showing a Fortnite character holding Captain America’s trusty shield along with the caption: “Whatever it takes. 4.25.19. #FortniteXAvengers”. Check it out below:

A second tweet followed earlier today, this time showing an unidentified hand holding up Thor’s new Stormbreaker axe, which was introduced in Avengers: Infinity War following the damage inflicted to his hammer in Thor: Ragnarok. That tweet is also accompanied by the same caption:

It doesn’t take a genius to work out the caption – “Whatever it takes” is the tagline for Avengers: Endgame, and 4.25.19 (Thursday 25th April) is the date of the first official screenings of the film. It’s pretty inevitable that Fortnite’s crossover event with the film will start on that same date, and while we don’t know exactly what the event will entail it’s likely to introduce some Avengers-themed cosmetics and a new limited time mode. Hopefully it’ll be better thought out than the limited time mode that was introduced to coincide with the release of Avengers: Infinity War; based around Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet, it was very unbalanced and needed an almost instant nerf.

We’ll likely get another teaser for the event tomorrow, probably based around the likes of Iron Man, but we’ll have to wait until Thursday to find out exactly what the event will entail. One thing for sure is that Fortnite and Avengers are both worldwide phenomenons, so bringing the two together is sure to be a success for Epic.
