If you’re a fan of story-driven single player adventures then I have some good news for you, as Remedy Entertainment has confirmed that its newest game, Control, will launch on Tuesday 27th August for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
Remedy Entertainment are of course the developers behind both the fantastic Alan Wake and Quantum Break (poetry), as well as the first two games in the Max Payne series, so strong narrative-based games are their absolute forte. Rumours of Control’s release date began circulating yesterday following the date being accidentally published on the Xbox store (oops), but Remedy has since confirmed the date to Eurogamer.
Much like Remedy’s previous games, Control will be a third-person action-adventure game that features some supernatural goings on. In Control, you play as Jesse Faden, who has just become the new Director of a secret agency in New York set up to investigate paranormal activity that has been invaded by an “otherworldly threat”.
The game was first announced at last years E3 event, where Remedy debuted a trailer for the game which you can watch below. It’s all very dark and mysterious, with some definite Inception, X-Files, and The Matrix vibes going on, with plenty of telekinesis, time-manipulation (bullet time, anyone?), and warping environments all on show. In other words, it looks great. Check out the announcement trailer below:
The games release will also see the end of Remedy’s partnership with Microsoft which has seen their games being released on PC and Xbox only since Alan Wake came out back in 2010. Control will be the first game to release on a PlayStation console since 2003’s May Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne, which was available on the PS2.
Control will launch on Tuesday 27th August for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
