Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s first season of content has been extended

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s first season of content has been extended, Infinity Ward has announced.

The extension is to make room for the plethora of new additions coming to the game over the coming weeks, the developer says, which will include the likes of “new items and challenges, an in-game challenge to earn the new Crossbow weapon, more remixed game modes, new playlists, and more in the Store”. The season was originally intended to run until the end of January, but this extension means that it will now run until Tuesday 11th February. Infinity Ward says that there will be 2XP, 2X Weapon XP, and 2X Tier Progression during the extension.

Beginning back at the start of December, Season One was described as “the biggest free content drop in Call of Duty history”. In the six weeks since it began, Season One has seen the addition of three new multiplayer maps, new Gunfight maps, a new Ground War map, new game modes, new Spec Ops modes, new weapons, and a whole bunch of new cosmetic items. Season One’s battlepass has also been a noticeable grind, with a considerable amount of time required to climb through the tiers, so at least this extension will give players another couple of weeks to try and reach the end of the battlepass.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s first season of content ends on Tuesday 11th February.
