Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is getting an update tomorrow, Friday 8th November, adding two new maps and a new game mode, Infinity Ward has announced.
Well, when I say a new game mode, what I mean is a returning game mode which probably should have been available at launch, but I guess we are only a couple of weeks after launch, so it’s not too bad. The “new” game mode in question is Hardpoint, the King of the Hill style mode which sees opposing teams fighting for control of an ever-changing area of the map in a bid to reach the score limit first.
Actually new will be two new maps, which will also be joining the game as part of the same update. The first of these maps is Shoot House, which will be added to the rotation in regular playlists, while Krovnik Farmland will be exclusive to Ground War, the 32v32 Battlefield-esque mode.

Although you could argue that Hardpoint should have been included in the game at launch so its addition is no big deal, it’s great to see two new maps added to the game so soon after launch. Ground War in particular is crying out for a third map to add some more variety to the mode, and we can only hope and pray that Shoot House is an improvement over the distinctly average maps which are currently available. The other great news here, of course, is that this update will be free for all players, on all platforms, at the same time. Progress people, progress.
