Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered may have just been leaked

This is interesting. Earlier today, a listing for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered appeared on the PEGI website, indicating that an upgraded version of the classic title may well be on the way.

The listing has since been swiftly removed, but the quick-fingered legends over at PC Gamer managed to grab a screenshot so that the proof of the listing exists. Check it out below.

As you can see, the listing slates it as a “Campaign” remaster, which indicates that Activision is only planning on revamping the single player portion of the game. That would seem like a strange move to me given the massive popularity of the online side of Modern Warfare 2, so it does make me worry that they may be considering splitting the game up and releasing a separate remaster for the multiplayer side of things for ultimate cash-in potential.

The only console mentioned on the listing is the PS4, which would imply that it may be exclusive to Sony’s platform, but that also seems like it would be a strange decision. It also mentions a release date of 28/02/2019, which was yesterday, so the information on the listing shouldn’t be taken as a gospel truth.

We’ll have to wait and see whether this is a genuine leak or somebody on the wind up, but it would make sense for a remastered version of Modern Warfare 2 to release this year, given that 2019 will see the classic first-person shooter celebrating its ten year anniversary.

We’ll keep our ears to the ground and update you on any further developments.
