Xbox Games with Gold for August Revealed

With August nearly upon us, the Games with Gold lineup has just been revealed, and it’s a really good selection.

For Xbox One owners, Forza Horizon 2 and For Honor will be this months free offerings, with Dead Space 3 and Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two available as freebies to Xbox 360 owners. Both of the 360 games are backwards compatible, so they are still available and playable to the Xbox One crowd.

With the release of Forza Horizon 4 approaching in October, 2014’s Forza Horizon 2 is a great freebie to offer new players a chance to check out the critically acclaimed open-world driving series before the release of the new title.

At only 18 months old, For Honor is a surprising inclusion, but after being hampered by several technical and matchmaking issues upon release which have now been fixed, this may be a perfect way to bring a whole new crowd of players to the game. Still heavily supported and with the new Marching Fire expansion due to be released in late 2018, this is a no-brainer of a freebie.

On the 360 side of things, Dead Space 3 is a gem of a horror survival game and the only game in the fantastic Dead Space series to feature online co-op. Obviously, it is probably only worth playing if you have played the first two games in the series (who starts a trilogy with the third installment?), but if you haven’t you could probably pick both Dead Space 1 and 2 up relatively cheap and get the third game absolutely free. Bargain!

If old school platformers are more your thing then Epic Mickey 2 may be the go-to title for you, but it’s undeniable that this is the weakest offering of the month.

Forza Horizon 2 will be available from 1st August-31st August, with For Honor available from August 16th-September 15th. Dead Space 3 will be available for the first half of August (1st-15th) with Epic Mickey 2 taking centre stage for the second half of the month (16th-31st).

Ricky spent most of his childhood playing games, mainly FPS and RPG games and this has continued into his adult life. You’ll regularly see him on Overwatch until he rages, then he'll move on to FIFA until he rages again - then he gives up on multiplayer games and chills out with a single player adventure.
