EA join Sony and pull out of giving a conference at this years E3

EA has told reporters that they will not be holding their annual press conference at E3 this year, but they will still be attending. EA are the second big name company to pull out of this years E3 following developments back in November when Sony told fans they would not be attending and would instead focus on their own PlayStation events. EA has said, however, that they will still put on its annual pre-E3 event ‘EA Play’ where they will focus on specific games and developers.

I’m sure there are many gamers out there that won’t be too bothered about EA not attendingwith their current line-up of upcoming games I know I’m notalthough I wouldn’t mind seeing a bit more of Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order. In previous years EA’s contribution to E3 hasn’t been spectacular, especially last year when they announced Command & Conquer: Rivals, a mobile game that had no place being at E3 in the first place, let alone on center stage.

It’s not yet known if there will be new developers attending that will fill the big void EA and Sony will leave, and if not could this mark the end E3 as we know it? I personally look forward to E3 but there are many in the industry that see it as nothing more than an investors pitch, and in all honesty most of the games that are announced with flashy trailers and energetic words never seem to live up to the hype and are full of lies.

There are still some things to look forward to at this years E3 event though. We should be seeing the first ‘full’ trailer for CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077, and Devolver Digitalthe team behind some of the best E3 conferences everhas confirmed that they will be attending, so it’s not all bad, and if I’m honest a full trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 is worth more than any game EA could have announced.
