Sony has revealed the two games that will be offered out as freebies to PS Plus subscribers in March and they’re both absolute humdingers. The two games in question are Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered and first-person puzzler The Witness.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is, quite obviously, the remaster of 2007’s fantastic Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Developed by Raven Software, the remaster was initially released as part of the special edition bundle for 2016’s not-so-fantastic Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, before a standalone version was released the following year.
The Witness, which was also released in 2016, is a first-person puzzler that is quite clearly inspired by Myst. Set on a gorgeous island, players must explore the open-world environment and solve puzzles along the way. It received critical acclaim on release, pretty much picking up 9’s and 10’s across the board.
It’s a noticeably bare month for PS Plus games because, as previously announced, Sony no longer offers free games to PS3 and PS Vita players from now onward. It’s a bit of a kick in the teeth for players on those platforms, but Sony feels that most of their player base is now allocated to the PS4, and they’re probably not wrong. I have to say, I do think the quality of the free offerings is great this month, so maybe Sony is planning on quality over quantity moving forward.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered and The Witness will become available to players on Tuesday 5th March. Don’t forget that you can still download last months titles, For Honor and Hitman: The Complete First Season, until Monday 4th March, and PS3 and PS Vita players final offerings—Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3), Divekick (PS3), Gunhouse (PS Vita), and Rogue Aces (PS Vita)—are available until Friday 8th March.
