Players can now take control of Geralt of Rivia in Monster Hunter: World, as the crossover event between The Witcher 3 and Capcom’s title has gone live on PS4 and Xbox One.
The first part of the event is live now, consisting of a new Contract called Trouble in the Ancient Forest, which is playable by anybody who has reached Hunter Rank 16 or above. This quest line is single-player only, and it will see Geralt venturing into the forest to hunt down and kill Leshen using his silver sword and spells. Completing the quest line will reward players with a “special item” and gesture, a new guild card background, new poses and titles, and materials to craft the “Geralt α” full armor set, the “Witcher’s Silver Sword” sword & shield, the “Cursed Staff α” Palico weapon, and the “Nekker α” full armor set for your Palico.
That’s all for the event for the time being, but on February 15th a multiplayer event will begin for any players who have reached the lofty heights of Hunter Rank 50. This event will be known as “The Woodland Spirit” and will see Geralt and friends taking on the Ancient Leshen; a more formidable opponent than the simple Lethen. That contract will be offered as a limited-time event until March 1st, and completing it will reward players with the resources needed to craft Ciri’s armor and weapon set. The event is available right now on PS4 and Xbox One, with a PC release coming at a later, currently unspecified date.
