Red Dead Redemption 2 sits at Number One in the UK Sales Chart

There’s only one thing the British love more than Red Dead Redemption 2, and that’s football (or soccer, if you want to use the wrong word), so it’s not surprising to see that the only game to beat Red Dead in the physical sales race this year was FIFA 19. Regardless, Red Dead Redemption 2 had seriously impressive sales; it doubled the number of sales its predecessor had and is—as mentioned a second ago—the second best selling game of the year.

It’s not exactly surprising, you couldn’t even go to the toilet without hearing about Red Dead Redemption 2. The marketing for this game was on another level; even if you’re not a gamer, you’ve heard of the game.

It’s important to note that these sales figures only include the physical copies sold, not the digital sales. It would be fair to assume that it’s actually closer to three times the sales of the original game if digital copies were also included.

The sales of Red Dead Redemption 2 can be made to look even more impressive by saying that it’s outsold every game on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 that isn’t FIFA, COD or GTAV.

Again, it’s not surprising, Rockstar doesn’t release too many games, but when they do you know they’re going to be great and are going to sell. For example, Grand Theft Auto 5 sold a whopping 2 million copies in its launch week alone and this is way off what Red Dead Redemption 2 has managed.
