Tetris 99, the Nintendo Switch exclusive battle royale puzzler, is getting another offering of DLC later this year.
It was back in February that Arika and Nintendo released the free online multiplayer version of the classic tile-matching puzzle game Tetris. A few months later in May, the game received it’s first add-on pack titled the Big Block DLC, which was priced at £8.99.
The DLC pack added an offline mode to the game, where players could battle it out versus A.I. bots. As welcome as that update was, it didn’t quite fit the competitive spot that makes Tetris 99 one of the better free titles currently available on the Nintendo Switch.
Thankfully, the second chunk of DLC from the Big Block pack might be about to change that. The second helping of DLC is currently listed on Nintendo’s website here, which states that “In the second DLC, we plan to add a new mode that lets you play offline with your family and friends.”
No other information on how the update will work is given, but it does have a planned release date before 31st December 2019.
Tetris 99 received favorable reviews after its February release, with many praising it’s fierce and exciting battle royale type action. The game also received a nod of approval from original Tetris creator Alexey Pajitnov, who commented on how much he loves the game, calling it “one of the best games of Tetris of the last year. I really like what was done.”
