Critical Mode isn’t an entirely new feature, having appeared in previous titles in the series. Conspicuous by its absence at release, it adds a new, higher difficulty level to the game by way of variants such as an increase to damage taken and reduced HP gains. It’s currently unclear whether Kingdom Hearts 3’s version of Critical Mode will follow the same sort of path, but it seems reasonable to presume that it will.
Kingdom Hearts 3 released for PS4 and Xbox One back in January of this year to both critical and commercial success. It picked up 8’s and 9’s across the board and went straight to the top of the UK charts, becoming the fastest selling entry in the series when it quickly surpassed the five million copies sold mark.
