Yacht Club Games, the studio that brought us the fantastic platformer Shovel Knight, has officially announced its latest title – Cyber Shadow.
Developed over the last decade by Aarne “MekaSkull” Hunziker, Cyber Shadow is an 8-bit-style action platformer that looks to have taken much inspiration from the Ninja Gaiden series.
Check out the trailer below, which shows off the fast-paced Ninja slicing as well as the kickass soundtrack from Enrique Martin.
The Cyber Shadow web page describes the game as follows:
“The world has been taken over by synthetic lifeforms. A desperate plea for help sets Shadow on a journey to uncover what started the path to perpetual ruin. Slash through the techno hordes, leap past traps, and nimbly navigate the ruins of Mekacity.”
“Only you can unlock the secrets to your clan’s ancient powers in Cyber Shadow, the quintessential Ninja Action game.”
Cyber Shadow will feature “masterfully designed levels filled with sharply honed ninja platforming action”, with more than a dozen bosses ranging from machines to synthetic clan rivals. Rescuing members of your Ninja clan will unlock special skills and abilities to use as a warrior whilst you “search for secrets” in the ruined world.
The story will be told through both in-game action and animated cinematic cut scenes. “Who can be trusted? How far will Shadow go to protect his clan and the one he loves?”.
Cyber Shadow will be available for pre-order soon on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam. No release date has been confirmed yet by developer Yacht Club, but they have said the game will cost £11.39/$14.99 when it releases.
