Nintendo rule out an official Bowsette

Sometimes fan demand can force a company into giving in to pressure and just straight up giving fans what they’re asking for, whether they agree with it or not. Well, Nintendo aren’t about to be that company, as they have seemingly ruled out any kind of official introduction of the fan-created phenomenon Bowsette.

It all stems back to September when Nintendo showcased a new item, called the Super Crown, that would be appearing in New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe. The Super Crown will allow Toadette to transform into Peachette, a hybrid character of both Toadette and Princess Peach. That then prompted Twitter user Ayyk92 to ask the question, “what if other characters used the crown?”, posting a comic strip which showed Bowser using the Crown to become what fans then dubbed as “Bowsette”.

Bowsette took the internet by storm, with thousands of other artists soon posting their own imaginings of the character. The concept of Bowsette was so popular that fans were hoping that we may see an official introduction of the character into the gaming world, but Nintendo have seemingly shot that idea down over on the official New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe website, where the official description for the Super Crown item says:

“When Toadette finds one of these, she can transform into the Super-powered Peachette. (Sorry Luigi-only Toadette can use this item!)”.

So, there you have it, Nintendo’s insistence that “only Toadette can use this item!” seems to be designed to shoot down fans hopes of seeing Bowsette. To be fair, Nintendo’s decision to keep Bowsette away from any kind of official canon probably has something to do with the fact that a lot of the fan art was somewhat, well, pornographic in nature. Nintendo is family friendly, people – keep your filth to yourself.

New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxewhich is a Nintendo Switch port of Super Mario Bros. U (from the Wii U) with New Super Luigi U thrown in as an added extrawill release on January 11th 2019.
