It’s been two weeks since The Witness became available to download for free on the Epic Games Store, so as is the norm it has now been swapped out for another free offering. That free offering is Transistor, the sci-fi action-RPG from Supergiant Games.
Transistor, which first released in 2014 to a strong critical reception, puts players in control of Red, a famous singer in a city called Cloudbank, who must do battle with a robotic force called The Process. Thankfully, Red’s battle is aided when she comes into possession of a mysterious, powerful weapon known as The Transistor. The game “integrates thoughtful strategic planning into a fast-paced action experience” as it melds “responsive gameplay and rich atmospheric storytelling”. Check out the trailer below:
It’s another great free offering from Epic, who have been knocking the ball out of the park with their free games over the last few months with offerings such as Oxenfree, What Remains of Edith Finch, and Thimbleweed Park. Transistor is a very highly-regarded game—BuffNerfRepeat’s own Glen is a big fan—so if you’ve never played it then this is a perfect chance to do so without spending a penny. To put your savings into perspective, the game would currently set you back £15.49 on Steam.
Transistor is free to download right now until Thursday 2nd May through the Epic Games Store.
