The Last of Us 2 and everything else from PlayStation State of Play

This evenings PlayStation State of Play has just concluded, and as expected it was The Last of Us 2 that’s left everyone talking.

Not only were we treated to a fantastic new trailer, but we were also given a release date for Naughty Dog’s highly-anticipated sequel. The Last of Us 2 will launch on Friday 21st February 2020.

Check out the lengthy new trailer below:

As far as trailers go, that has to be one of the most impressive we’ve seen for quite some time. The new gameplay footage shows off the extremely violent action, and the familiar face at the end was the icing on the cake. For those that have yet to play the original, Sony also announced that the original remastered version of the game will be available to PlayStation Plus subscribers in October, along with MLB The Show 19.

Kicking of this evenings State of Play was one of the strangest game trailers I’ve ever watched, mainly because I was left with very little idea of what the game was actually about! Regardless, HUMANITY by Enhance looks and sounds like something I need to experience, and I can in 2020!

Next up was news that that Spec Opsa game mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfarewill be heading to the PlayStation 4 version of the game first. The mode will be coming to the Xbox One and PC, but at a later date which is yet to be announced.

Update: We now know that the exclusivity is only for the Survival portion of the Spec Ops mode, and it will be timed-exclusive for an entire year. Wow.

Here’s the story trailer:

Changing the mood completely, we were then treated to a cute gameplay trailer from the creators of Katamari Damacy with Wattam.

One of my favorite trailers of the evening followed for a game called Arise: A Simple Story.

The game promises to be full of emotion:

“In Arise you never know what’s around the corner. You enjoy the good times to the fullest knowing they might not last, and endure the hardships working to turn them around. To put it simply – that’s just life, right? Beautiful and scary at the same time,”
