Sega has confirmed another ten games that will be a part of the Mega Drive Mini when it releases in September.
The mini console, which was announced back at the tail end of march, will come bundled with 40 of the consoles legendary titles. Ten of those titles were announced alongside the console, including the likes of ToeJam & Earl, Ecco the Dolphin, and Sonic the Hedgehog, and we now know another ten thanks to an updated page for the console.
The newly announced games are Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse, World of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, Thunder Force III, Super Fantasy Zone, Shinobi 3, Streets of Rage 2, Earthworm Jim, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Contra: Hard Cops, and Landstalker.
While the likes of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Streets of Rage 2 were pretty much a given (I’d be amazed if the original Streets of Rage, Sonic 3, and Sonic & Knuckles don’t end up being included), I’m delighted to see the likes of both Castle and World of Illusion and Earthworm Jim get the nod. We’ll have to wait and see what other games get selected as the mini console edges closer to release, but I’d love to see the likes of The Revenge of Shinobi, Vectorman, Kid Chameleon, and Quackshot make it onto the list.
The console itself will come bundled with two controllers, a power cable, and an HDMI cable, and will set you back £69.99 ($79.99 US / €79.99 / AUD$139.95) so it’s a bit pricey. You can pre-order the console now on the official Sega website.
You can check out the confirmed list so far below. Don’t forget that there’s another 20 games to come yet:
