Nintendo may well have accidentally revealed the upcoming addition of a Stage Builder to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
A Stage Builder menu icon is just about visible in a new trailer for the game that was released yesterday, and it was spotted by somebody who apparently has the sight of a god. The icon is barely on the screen for a second and it’s even blurred out in the background, yet some higher power with ridiculous vision managed to spot it and has spread the word to us mere mortals. Check out the trailer below – the icon is just about visible in the bottom right of the TV screen at 0:02.

The Stage Builder allows players to create their own levels to do battle in using a number of pre-existing components, and it’s a feature that was included in both Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, so it would be no big surprise to see the feature coming to the Switch entry in the series. Nintendo has so far kept quiet on the leak, and are likely holding out on revealing any official information until the next episode of Nintendo Direct.
I always find it strange when this kind of leak happens, because somebody (presumably the person filming the trailer) must have known that the icon was just about visible in the background. That leads me to ask the question, has somebody dropped a bollock, or was the leak intentional? We may never know. We’ll keep you updated if there is any official word.
