Streets of Rage 4

Streets of Rage 4 is Coming

It’s the news we’ve all been waiting for since 1994.

Publisher DotEmu and developer Lizardcube, the teams behind Wonder Boy: The Dragons Trap have confirmed that they are working on Streets of Rage 4; the first entry in the much-loved series since Streets of Rage 3 hit shelves in 1994. Guard Crush Games, the team behind the Streets of Rage inspired Streets of Fury are also involved.

The reveal trailer (shown below) shows that Axel Stone and Blaze Fielding will be returning for Streets of Rage 4, although there was no sign of our old favourite Adam. The gameplay on display shows that the game will feature cartoon style visuals and will stick to the side-scrolling 2D beat-em-up gameplay that we all fell in love with back in the early 1990’s.

The original Streets of Rage released on the Sega Mega Drive in 1991 and became an instant classic, with addictive gameplay, great graphics and a killer soundtrack. Widely regarded as one of the greatest Mega Drive games of all time, it spawned two equally well received sequels over the next three years.

There was no news on what platform the game will be releasing on or when it’s release date will be, but after a wait of almost a quarter of a century fans are—understandably— chomping at the bit.
