Stardew Valley’s massive 1.4 update arrives on console

Stardew Valley’s enormous 1.4 update is now available on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, having been released for the PC version of the game back in November.

The update is absolutely massive, expanding on nearly every aspect of the game. There are more endgame activities, new buildings, new events, a screenshot function, fish ponds, and an enormous amount of new clothing items and hair styles among other things. There are also an absolute mound of quality-of-life changes and bug fixes included – you can read a comprehensive list of all of the changes here.

When the update launched for PC back in November, the games developer Eric Baron, also known as ConcernedApe, said:

“One of my main goals with 1.4 was to finally “polish” the game to the degree that I’ve always wanted. What I mean by that is that I wanted to fix all the bugs that have been lingering in the game, to fix a lot of weird or annoying things about the controls & feel of the game, and add in a lot of “quality of life” features that will make the game more seamless to play. I feel pretty confident that this goal has been met”.

If you haven’t played Stardew Valley then now is the perfect time, as this update makes the already-fantastic game more complete than ever. Just be warned that it’s very easy to lose hour after hour to the farming sim, and yes I am speaking from experience – once you start making plans for how to build your perfect farm it’s very hard to stop saying “I’ll just do one more day before bed”.

Stardew Valley’s 1.4 update is now available on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
