PS4 exclusive Death Stranding will release in November

After a long wait, Sony has finally revealed the release date for the upcoming PS4 exclusive ‘Death Standing’. The game will launch on November 8th this year, and along with the release date Sony also unveiled a new trailer, which includes plenty of gameplay for you to feast your eyes on:

The trailer shows off some of the things you can expect to see in the game, such as third-person exploration both on foot and in vehicles (at least a motorcycle for Daryl), inventory management, and crafting (the trailer shows you creating a ladder to reach a high up area). The character movement, combat, and graphics all look flawless; one thing that stood out for me was the backpack, which looks strangely similar to the backpack in No Man’s Sky.

You will also have noticed that stealth mechanics are at play, which isn’t exactly surprising considering the game is made by Kojima Productions, the newly-formed production company led by Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima.

This gameplay trailer was most definitely needed, as although we’ve heard of the game before and have had a few teases, no one actually knew what the game was about or what you do in it. The new trailer has answered some questions, but it’s still not 100% clear what is going on, but I’m sure more will be explained before release. If not, the game looks great anyway, so you could always just buy it and find out…

The following was shared on the PlayStation blog, which was presumably shared to give us more of an idea about the plot of the game. Maybe it’s just me though, but I may actually be even more confused:

“People have created ‘Walls’ and become accustomed to living in isolation.”

“Death Stranding is a completely new type of action game, where the goal of the player is to reconnect isolated cities and a fragmented society. It is created so that all elements, including the story and gameplay, are bound together by the theme of the ‘Strand’ or connection.”

“As Sam Porter Bridges, you will attempt to bridge the divides in society, and in doing create new bonds or ‘Strands’ with other players around the globe. Through your experience playing the game, I hope you’ll come to understand the true importance of forging connections with others.”

If I’m being honest, I quite like the mystery surrounding the game. I hope they don’t release any more details.
