Obsidian Entertainment reveal new game, The Outer Worlds

Obsidian Entertainment has given the world its first look at their new game at The Game Awards.

The game, titled The Outer Worlds, will be a single-player first-person sci-fi RPG and will be published by Private Division, which is part of Take-Two Interactive Studios. The launch trailer looks very Fallout-esque and it’s no surprise, given that the project is being led by Fallout co-creators Leonard Boyarsky and Tim Cain. Indeed, the trailer makes a point of letting us know that these guys made the original Fallout games, which I can’t help but think is due to the ongoing farce that is Fallout 76. Could this be the unofficial Fallout game that we’ve all been waiting for? You can watch the trailer below:

I have to admit that the whole way through the trailer I was expecting to see that this game would be an Xbox exclusive. Microsoft bought Obsidian Entertainment not long ago, so I was fully expecting this to be a big announcement for Microsoft, but it would appear that Obsidian were already committed to working on this game for somebody else before their acquisition by Microsoft, as The Outer Worlds will release on Xbox One, PC and PS4.
