New Pokemon trailer reveals new rivals and Galarian Pokemon

Nintendo and The Pokemon Company have released a new trailer for Pokemon Sword and Shield, showing off a number of Galarian forms of old Pokemon and some new rivals.

The first reveal was Galarian Weezing, which is essentially Weezing with a mustache seemingly made of pollution and a top hat chimney which makes him look rather a lot like a bong, which I’m presuming is completely unintentional. Next up were Galarian Zigzagoon and Galarian Linoone, both of who have traded in their brown and beige colouring for a more badger-esque black and white look. Linoone can also now evolve into Obstagoon, who looks pretty badass.

The trailer also revealed a new Pokemon called Morpeko, a cute-looking little guy who uses an electric move called Aura Wheel when in ‘Full Belly Mode’. However, all signs of cuteness go out of the window when Morpeko enters ‘Hangry Mode’, where he looks suitably pissed off and Aura Wheel changes to a Dark attack. We’ve all been there when we’re hungry.

Finally, the trailer also reveals a number of new rivals for players to take on: Bede, Marnie, and Team Yell. I’m reliably informed that Bede is a male character, even though he looks like a grumpy old lady that won’t let you get your football back out of her garden, and Marnie looks like a stereotypical character from a teen angst movie. She comes with her own set of fans, Team Yell, who look like a Good Charlotte tribute band. Check out the trailer below:

Pokemon Sword and Shield launches for Nintendo Switch on Friday 15th November.
