The sequel to the original and surprise smash hit Basketball game which faced a minor setback when its released date was pushed back two months has been given a new release date. Basketball fans can take to the court on October 16, we’re looking forward to some more crazy Basketball 2-on-2’s.
As well as a release date, NBA 2k Playgrounds 2 has had a name change. Formally known simply as NBA Playgrounds 2, the ‘2K’ part has been added due to the publisher 2K coming on board in July. Bit arrogant.
Players will compete in a variety of game modes, ranging from new Seasons and Playground Championships to four-player online games and head-head three-point contests.
Playgrounds 2 will feature an expanded roster of over 400 NBA players, from all-time greats like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and Dr. J, to current stars such as Karl-Anthony Towns, Jayson Tatum, and Ben Simmons; all featuring new player models and signature player animations.
There will also be 10 all-new playground courts which will also be available at launch. We expect these numbers to increase with updates as time goes by, similar to how the original was consistently updated.
We really enjoyed playing the original NBA Playgrounds, and have high hopes for a much-improved version of the game with the sequel. With no recent news from EA regarding a new NBA Street game, Playgrounds 2 will look to clean up, both on and off the court.
NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch on October 16.
