Mortal Kombat 11 gets a story trailer

Mortal Kombat 11 has already has had a number of badass character reveal trailers of late, but now NetherRealm has released a story trailer that reveals even more characters for the game and gives away a little bit more about the games story. Check it out below:

Basically, it’s all about new baddie Kronika using time travel to try and reset the timeline and prevent all of the do-gooding that was done by that no-good do-gooder Raiden. Got it? Good. It’s a pretty cool trailer and it looks like the story in Mortal Kombat 11 will be pretty interesting, which is very rare in a fighting game, but it is something that NetherRealm have previous in following the pretty much universal praise of Injustice 2’s story.

As well as giving us an extensive look at the story, the trailer also confirms some more characters that are returning from the previous installment, including the likes of Cassie Cage, Kotal Kahn, Jacque Briggs, and Erron Black. We also see some more footage of already-confirmed characters such as Scorpion and Raiden, and there’s a humorous moment of past-Johnny Cage complaining to present-Johnny Cage about the lack of jetpacks in the future. Marvellous stuff. If these trailers are anything to go by then Johnny Cage may well be the highlight of the whole game.

The trailer features some pretty awesome-looking battles, including Raiden going toe-to-toe with an entire army, but it’s certainly not as gruesome as previous trailers other than the last 30 seconds or so, so if you’re only here for the gore then skip to the 2 minute mark, you maniac.

Mortal Kombat 11 releases for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on Tuesday 23rd April.
