Konami bundling classic titles for release on consoles and PC

I have great news for fans of retro gaming, as Konami has announced that a selection of it’s most well-known classic titles will soon be available as downloads on both consoles (Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch) and PC.

The news comes in celebration of Konami’s 50th birthday, and what better way to celebrate than to allow gamers to once again sample their classic games from yesteryear?

The downloads will come as part of a collection, with each collection featuring eight titles. Three collections have been announced, with one collection set to release before the remaining two.

The first set due for release is Konami’s Arcade Classics collection. This set will include Haunted Castle, A-Jax, Gradius, Gradius 2, Salamander, Thunder Cross. Twinbee and Scramble. The Arcade Classics will release on Thursday 18th April with a $20 price-tag (UK price yet to be confirmed), which we think is pretty reasonable for 8 titles.

Next up in early summer will be both the Castlevania and Contra Anniversary Collections. The Castlevania Collection will include Castlevania 1, 2, and 3, as well as Super Castlevania from the SNES, with four yet unannounced Castlevania titles making up the collection of eight (there’s plenty to choose from). Contra’s collection follows the same path, featuring Contra, Super Contra, Super C, and Contra 3: Alien Wars, as well as another four yet to be named titles.

We love the idea of playing some of these classics again, especially the Castlevania titles. Having these games bundled together in collections for what we think is a decent price is also an extra incentive for anyone who hasn’t yet experienced these titles to finally give them a try.

For news on the unnamed titles yet to be announced and for the pricing in the UK, keep it locked to BuffNerfRepeat.
